People are obsessed with looking as young as possible for as long as possible! They want the fountain of youth!  You can tell it’s an obsession because there are so many different products on the market to help with anti-aging. It’s a billion dollar business with new products and hyps being launched everyday.  What works and what does not?  If you’re a woman then you’re probably more concerned with your appearance than men.

There are so many different products on the market, how do you know which ones are actually effective? Many of the products are falsely advertised, claiming things that they can’t deliver. So how can you find out which products live up to their claims? Well you need a source of accurate information so you can make informed decisions.

 

Anti-aging products aren’t cheap, you simply couldn’t afford to try all of them. You have to be able to differentiate the products that work, from the products that are designed to separate you from your hard earned cash.

You can of course buy some products containing retinol substitutes over the counter, these are only allowed to range up to a concentration of 1%. Normally the stronger the concentration, the stronger the treatment. The problem is a high concentration can cause the skin quite a lot of irritation and end up in a rash, so it is very important to carefully read the instructions.

 

The most important thing is to protect your skin from the sun. No matter how healthy you may think a suntan is, it’s actually very damaging to your skin. Your skin actually changes colour because it’s already damaged. A suntan may appear to be healthy, but it certainly isn’t. Don’t try to get a suntan at the expense of neglecting your skin.

Hydration is also a very important part of keeping your skin moisturized.  You need to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, this is vital for your skin’s health. Drinking enough water allows your skin to maintain a healthy hydration level and its elasticity.

You should also use a moisturiser to lock in moisture, after taking a hot shower or steam you should apply moisturiser all over to lock in the moisture. If you have a bath then consider using some baby oil in the water, it works wonders. If you pour some baby oil into a hot bath you will get coated in the lovely oil. When drying yourself after putting anything else in the bath make sure you gently pat yourself dry, don’t rub as this will remove the oil that you already have on your skin.

 

Other baby products can be very effective, you can buy very mild soaps and cleansers that gently moisturise your skin to leave it feeling fresh and clean.

 

Instead of soap use an exfoliant, you can use either an acid peel, or a scrub. Either one works by removing the dead cells from your skin, and so makes your skin appear much healthier.  Skin peels can also return your skin to its natural pH levels which lessens the chances of infections like acne and similar.

 

Antioxidants really work to help protect the skin, use some products that contain Vitamin C.
