Another option is a deeper skin peel like the Obagi Blue peel or the TCA peel (the active ingredient in the Obagi Blue peel is trichloroacetic acid (TCA)).  These are considered medium to deep skin peels.  A deeper skin peel can completely unclog and clean all the pores on your face, remove all excess oil and restore the proper pH or acidity levels of your skin.  Dermatologists routinely use these TCA peels on patients in their offices to treat acne, deeper pimples and cysts, nodules, and even resultant acne scarring.

FYI – the Obagi Blue peel is a crème paste with a blue or green indicator dye in it that makes it easier to tell where the acid has and has not been applied.  In the last few years, many dermatologists have switched to a pure TCA solution of between 25 and 50% strength as it is much quicker (requires less application time than the Obagi Blue peel) and gives a deeper peel where patients can really feel it working (as dermatologists would refer to it as more bang for the buck).  Generally a pure TCA skin peel will have the effect of 2 to 3 Obagi Blue peels.  Or to look at it in another way, you would need 2 to 3 applications of the Obagi Blue peel to equal the effects of 1 pure TCA peel.  In either case, both peels work great on pimples and acne.

After proper exfoliation it is important to continue to use light washes and cleansers, not soaps which can be harsh to the skin, removing its protective oils (some oil is natural and good for your skin) drying it out and causing further problems and a worsening of the original pimple or acne condition.  One should follow up this routine with proper moisturization.  Your skin is like an organ just like your heart and lungs and needs to be cared for.
