Amazing dry skin care tips to ward off dry skin this winter season

By David Maillie

There is no need for super expensive skin lotions and moisturizers.  Just like with anything else there are extremes to be found and you can find plenty of them at your local upper scale department store.  Some high end name brands can easily run as high as $50 to $100 or more.  Per Consumer Reports that is money wasted as none of the higher priced lotion provide any better protection and moisture than the $3 and $4 bottles like Vaseline intensive and dry skin therapy which can be found at your local Walmart, Target or drug store.

Another great tip is to moisturize your body from the inside.  That’s right, drink plenty of water (8 to 12 glasses of water a day is recommended by the FDA) and take vitamin E and fish oil pills.  Without proper hydration, your body will dry out.  Your skin is one of the first organs of your body to show dehydration signs like loss of elasticity, loss of suppleness, drying out, flaking, etc…  So keep yourself properly hydrated.  Taking fish oil pills and vitamin E are linked to better nutrition, cardio vascular health and skin health.

Have youthful, wrinkle and acne free skin. Proven skin treatment actually used by dermatologists and plastic surgeons that is guaranteed to work - the TCA skin peel  from Bestskinpeel.com.  Guaranteed and proven to make your skin  feel and look several years younger!

There are many properties of these vitamins like vitamin E and, of course, the omega 3 fatty acids in fish oil (especially oil from salmon and other red or pink fish like Tuna) that are showing promise in improving skin health, elasticity, resistance to disease, etc…

So there you have it, three great tips that don’t cost a lot of money and will work very well to combat dry skin this winter season.

What should one do for cracked skin on the nuckles from washing your hands in the winter time?  I work as a nurse's assistant in Buffalo New York and the combination of the bitter cold winters and constantly having to wash my hands for my job just leads to painful cracking skin on my knuckles.  It can be really quite painful too.  I have tried salves and such, but they come right off the next time I have to wash my hands which is about every 5 minutes while I am working.  Anyone have a cure for my excessively dry skin?

Dale B. - Buffalo, NY

That's a tough one Dale.  Especially when you have to wash your hands so often.  I work in shipping and have to handle large cardboard boxes all day which really dries out my skin on my hands and can even make them raw.  What works for me is to cover my hands with vaselins and then wear gloves to bed at night.  This keeps my hands moist and aids in the healing process.  Good luck.

I think the solution for Dale is to wear nitrile gloves which are stronger and made for the medical profession.  Then when you wash your hands you can just put on a new pair of gloves or wash the ones you have on and not your hands. :)
